Chicken Hat Plays
Picasso at the Lapin Agile Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan November Evil Dead: The Musical 5th Annual Holiday Revue |
How do they do it?!
The night before, eight writers draw their prompts from hats full of suggestions - who, what, and where - and go home to write a script. Eight directors and a bunch of actors show up in the morning. Each director draws a script from a hat, then a cast from a hat, and together they all go away to rehearse. The day is spent memorizing lines, finding costumes and props, and staging the show. That night, the audience enjoys eight original world premiere plays from the area’s bravest theatrical artists! All of the plays have a hilarious special gimmick, such as a common line or cameo.

Picasso at the Lapin Agile features the characters of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, who meet at a bar called the Lapin Agile (Nimble Rabbit) in Montmartre, Paris. It is set on October 8, 1904, and both men are on the verge of an amazing idea (Einstein will publish his special theory of relativity in 1905 and Picasso will paint Les Demoiselles d'Avignon in 1907) when they find themselves at the Lapin Agile, where they have a lengthy debate about the value of genius and talent, while interacting with a host of other characters.
Starring Quentin Roth, Nick Elias, Amanda Sjodahl, Jonathan Manchester, Laura Grieme, Tony Barrett, Pat Carroll, Stephen Bock, and Aaron Jordan-Peterson.
A staged reading of the 1982 classic movie script, just in time for its 30th Anniversary! Including a special sci-fi drink menu, available from Midi Restaurant - enjoy a Shatner Shot, a Spock-dka Tonic, or maybe a Khan Island Iced Tea.
David Mamet's new Oval Office satire depicts one day in the life of a beleaguered American commander-in-chief. It's November in a Presidential election year, and incumbent Charles Smith's chances for reelection are looking grim. Approval ratings are down, his money's running out, and nuclear war might be imminent. Though his staff has thrown in the towel and his wife has begun to prepare for her post-White House life, Chuck isn't ready to give up just yet. Amidst the biggest fight of his political career, the President has to find time to pardon a couple of turkeys — saving them from the slaughter before Thanksgiving — and this simple PR event inspires Smith to risk it all in an attempt to win back public support. With Mamet's characteristic no-holds-barred style, November is a scathingly hilarious take on the state of America today and the lengths to which people will go to win.
This show contains adult language and content.
Starring Chris Nollet, Brian Matuszak, Cheryl Skafte, and John Schmidt.
Evil Dead: The Musical

Back by popular demand... AGAIN! Now with even more blood, dancing, and demon shenanigans! Based on Sam Raimi's 80s cult classic films, Evil Dead tells the tale of five college kids who travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force. And although it may sound like a horror, it's not! The songs are hilariously campy and the show is bursting with more farce than a Monty Python skit. Evil Dead: The Musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at an abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons," "Look Who's Evil Now," and "Do the Necronomicon."
This show contains adult language, blood, chainsaws, gunshots, and wacky zombie dancing!
