About the Event:  The St. Louis County Rescue Squad - a group of local volunteers who assist the sheriff's department in wilderness search and rescue, boat and water safety, and first aid and public safety - hold a Rescue Scramble twice a year, where the group stays overnight on a Saturday to practice rescue situations and drills.  Actors are needed to play the roles of victims (anywhere between 10 and 20 actors would be ideal).  No prior acting experience is necessary.  On the evening of the scramble, actors will be given scripts with their scenes, characters, and assigned injuries.  Actors and members of the Rescue Squad will be simulating real rescue scenarios!  Makeup, prosthetics, and food will be provided.  This is a fantastic, fun, and exciting evening of volunteerism that also supports a group of heroes in our own local community!

Rubber Chicken Sketch Comedy and Improv at Animal Allies' Match-a-Thon

Rubber Chicken Theater supported Animal Allies’ 30-hour Match-a-Thon by providing an hour of brand new sketch comedy and improv – all about dogs, cats, owners, and pet adoption, with a special appearance by the hilarious Father Stu.  Audience members stopped by to join in on the antics and laughs!  They also snuggled furry friends – or even took one home!
2013: Written and/or performed by Greg J. Anderson, Jeremy Churchill, Anders Hultstrom, Minden Hultstrom, Aaron Jordan-Peterson, Cathy Podeszwa, Ric Stevens, and Cheri Tesarek.

2012:  Written and/or performed by Greg J. Anderson, Lawrance Bernabo, Jeremy Churchill, Anders Hultstrom, Minden Hultstrom, Tom Martinson, Alex Schmuck, Ric Stevens, and Cheri Tesarek.

About the Event:  From Noon on Saturday, March 31 until 6:00pm on Sunday, April 1, the goal is to place at least 100 cats and dogs into loving homes!  This thirty-hour event will be packed with opportunities to adopt a new pet and attend a variety of entertaining activities. Animal Allies' veterinarian will be on hand along with animal trainers and behaviorists. They will be there to answer questions and give presentations and demonstrations on health, training, and behavior to help your new - or existing - four-legged companion. There will also be entertainment and activities for the whole family!  Animal Allies uses the ASPCA® Meet Your Match® program to help ensure successful matches through adoption. This program is designed to evaluate the adopter AND animal's personalities and needs to bring them together for a harmonious and rewarding relationship. Use this program during our Match-a-thon to find the perfect match for you and your family!  All adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vet-checked and up-to-date on vaccinations. They also go home with a new collar complete with a personalized ID tag at the time of adoption.  With the help of the City of Duluth Animal Control and the Northland Spay/Neuter Clinic, PLLC, 100 animals WILL find compassionate and loving homes.

Whata Week:  Rubber Chicken at Animal Allies
By:  Kristine Osbakken, for The Reader

Doreen and I segued from Superior to Rice Lake Road where Minden Hultstrom and hubbie, Anders, played cat and dog ever so cutely. Rubber Chicken Theater performers helped find homes for pets in a 30 hour marathon over the weekend. Father Stu Flanagan was a riot, with a tale about his dog, Ricketts, flying down Piedmont Avenue, he on a bike, Ricketts attached via clothesline. And did you know that “compost pile is just a fancy name for a personal dump”? Ya had to be there. By the way, Allies placed close to 50 cats and dogs.

Polar Bear Plunge
Presented by Law Enforcement for Special Olympics Minnesota

We jumped in the chilly lake for a good cause!

Thank you for being a part of the Rubber Chicken Theater team Anders, Marilyn, Jeremy, and Minden!

We surpassed our donation goal of $200!

Thank you to everyone who generously donated to this wonderful and exciting event!
About the Event : The Polar Bear Plunge — presented by Minnesota law enforcement as part of the year-round Law Enforcement Torch Run® events to benefit Special Olympics — is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support Special Olympics athletes by jumping into frigid Minnesota waters. It consists of 15 different events that take place across Minnesota during the coldest months of the year. From January through March, our Plunge crew will be traveling around the state to 15 different communities with one goal in mind: raise funds for Special Olympics Minnesota! Participants raise a minimum of $75 and take a dip into one of Minnesota's frozen lakes. But the Plunges are so much more than that. The Polar Bear Plunges are thrilling afternoons of unique costumes, crisp winter air, and volunteerism!  They're the kind of fun and exciting events that you really have to experience to understand.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence.

We strutted in lovely heels for a good cause!

Thank you for being a part of the Rubber Chicken Theater team Curt, Marilyn, Clark, Anders, Mike, Sara, Richard, Greg, and Minden!

We surpassed our donation goal of $120!
Thank you to everyone who generously donated to this wonderful and exciting event!
About the Event:  This is a mile walk where each participant walks a mile in "Her" shoes, meaning, high heels. Tens of thousands of men nationwide have worn heels to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support their local rape crisis services and domestic violence shelters. The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event is a playful opportunity for men, women, families, and friends to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to sexualized violence.  The walk is not a race, so it can be done at your own pace. There will also be food, live music, vendors, and prizes!  Presented by UW-Superior Gender Equities Office.

Women's shoes for the Rubber Chicken Theater team were provided in part by County Seat Theater and the Duluth Playhouse.
